Bhutan Development Bank Limited accepts payments via Quick Response (QR) code scans from all customers using mobile applications of Bhutanese banks (BDBL, BOB, BB, TBank, DK, and DPNB) as well as Indian banks, provided they are enabled with the Bharat Interface for Money Unified Payments Interface (BHIM UPI).
All domestic QR code transactions are free of cost.
Bhutan Development Bank’s QR codes can accept payments from UPI-enabled mobile banking apps in India, providing a fast and smooth transaction experience for both customers and merchants.
To enhance the domestic QR payment system and support cross-border transactions, Bhutan Development Bank has launched the UnionPay International payment solution, utilizing the Royal Monetary Authority’s existing common QR code framework. The QR codes issued by the bank are equipped to accept payments through the UnionPay International mobile banking app, ensuring a quick and smooth experience for both customers and merchants.
However, customers must first activate international payments on their UnionPay app before they can scan a merchant’s QR code to make payments in Bhutan.
The following transaction fees/charges shall be payable by merchants when accepting the transaction:
